Colin's mate Dave Heath was a passenger on my first trip as a Safari Driver, Johannesburg to Nairobi, in 1972.
I met Dave again in 1976 when Colin invited me to a BBQ in Sydney. We have kept in touch and Kathy and I caught up with Dave in January 2024 for lunch in Paignton Devon, where Dave lives.

The Scouting Movement
Joining the Scouts at the age of about 12, was one of the best things that happened to me.
Hiking, Camping and everything associated with these activities was instrumental in me gaining the confidence to face the adult world.
Leading Camping Safaris in Africa and Camping tours through South and North America can be traced back to my scouting experience. Fantastic experiences and life long memories were created.
Thankyou to the Scout Masters and others responsible for maintaining this fantastic organised, which was founded in England by Lord Robert Baden Powell.

Toastmasters International
When I took on the job as a Tour Manager with American Express, my lack of confidence was painfully obvious to me when speaking through the microphone on the Tour Coaches in the United States.
Therefore, when I was invited in late 1981 to join a Toastmasters Club being established in Springwood NSW, I jumped at the chance to be involved.
The club eventually chartered in April 1982, and I have been a keen member ever since, albeit at different clubs as I moved around Australia.
Confidence in Communication and Leadership gained through membership of Toastmasters, has been so beneficial in the corporate world and beyond.
Thankyou to current and past leaders who have maintained this amazing organisation, founded in California in 1924, by Ralph C. Smedley.

Manly Computer Pals
Heaps of gratitude to Darryl Hearsch, one of Manly Computer Pals tutors, who was an invaluable help in navigating around the Wix software, during terms 3 and 4 of 2025. Darryl was the guiding light in the website coming together.
In term 2 another tutor, Paul Goodyer, was equally helpful in me better understanding many features of my mobile 'phone.
